Shop update #410 (9-17-25) I made a big 6′ x 3′ folding backdrop
The same friend from the other backdrop came over and we made a 6′ x 3′ version this time. This one can be made from a single sheet of 3/4″ plywood.
He dropped the 1 sheet of plywood off on Wednesday this time. When I got home from work that night, I cut 2′ off the top and then cut the remaining part into 2 – 4′ x 3′ pieces and stored them in the shop.
On Saturday, we trimmed 11″ off of the long side of the 2 big pieces and made them 37″ x 36″. After that, we used the offcuts to make all of the same parts in the same sizes as we did for the big one.
I cut the arch off the top and then glued, brad nailed, and screwed in all of the parts.
We used my xTool laser engraving to put some branding on the pockets for the braces.
I paid more attention to the spacing of all of the screws this time and made everything match up. I built a couple of quick jigs to help align all of the screws.
After that, it was final assembly and everything turned out great!
