Shop update #411 (9-24-25)
Halloween and Christmas are rapidly approaching.
For Halloween, I am working on some new designs for the Coffin Lanterns. I am hoping to have the files up for sale on Saturday.
I also have a corporate client that I made Christmas gifts for last year, so I am working on some epoxy filled and laser engraved cutting board samples for them. These are just a proof of concept. If they decide to go with them, they will be made out of bigger, thicker, and darker cutting boards. Either Acacia or Walnut, depending on their budget.
I started by milling out the logo using the CNC machine, and then laser engraving the company name and year. I wasn’t paying attention on the first one and put in 2024.
The epoxy that I have was clear when I bought it 2 or 3 years ago but one of the parts yellowed over time. I added blue pigment and it was able to overpower the yellow tint.
I mixed up 2 ounces because the instructions said that mixing up 1 ounce or less tends to flash cure. 2 ounces was way too much for what I needed so I ended up putting it in everything that I could to use it up.
