Shop update #432 (2-18-26)
Cub Scout Arrow of Light plaque season has officially started with my first order of 7 plaques for Pack 241.
I picked up 2 – 8 ft boards of 1 x 8 clear pine from Lowes and cut them down into 8 – 2 foot lengths using my cross cut sled on the table saw.

Once they were all cut down to size, I engraved an arrow in each one using a 1/8″ bit on my CNC machine. Each arrow took about 30 minutes to carve out.`

I then installed a 1/16″ bit and engraved the Pack info, bridging date, and name of the scout. Each took 12 to 17 minutes depending on the length of the name.

The next step was to put a slight chamfer on the top of each board.

The last step was to paint the edges and inside of the engraved parts with black spray paint. I will let them dry for a couple of days and then sand the paint off of the tops and rears of the boards.
