Shop update #348 (7-10-24) Crate Style Pantry Organization Shelves

All of the stuff sitting at the bottom of my pantry has been bugging me for a while so I cam up with a solution for it this weekend.  Let me know if you would like me to make plans for these shelves.

I started with some reclaimed 2×2’s from my sons’ old loft beds that I cut down into 1/2″ thick strips.

I then cut them to length with my mitre saw.

I cut some 3/4″ plywood into the proper size for the sides and glued and brad nailed 2 strips to the top and 2 strips to the back.

I nailed in 7 more strips to the top and the first crate was finished.

The second crate has 2 shelves so I glued and nailed 2 – 1″ wide strips of 3/4″ plywood to the inside bottom of both sides.

I then attached 8 strips to the 2 strips on the bottom using glue and brad nails.

I then glued and nailed in 2 more strips to the sides using a 7″ spacer.

8 more strips were glued and nailed to those strips as well.  I also glued and nailed 9 strips to the top that are 1 1/2″ wider than the lower strips.  3 strips were also attached to the back, behind the shelves.

Before and after:

Once we use them for a while and decide if we like them then I will take them out and paint them white.

But I probably won’t…….
