Shop update #351 (7-31-24)

I finally got around to install the 1/8″ hard board layer to the top of my outfeed/assembly table that I have been meaning to do for a couple of months.  I attached it using 1/2″ staples and no glue. This way I can replace as needed.

The hardboard was about an inch and quarter too long so I put the excess on the side facing the table saw.  It turns out that it being at the end with staples pushing down behind it made it bow up a little.  Just enough to stop wood from passing over it.

I fixed this by trimming it back with a flush cut bit on my cordless router and then I put a 1/8″ roundover on it just to play it safe.

It’s still just barely too tall for my rip fence so I can’t push the table right up against the saw like I used to.

My sister works for a school district and they are promoting the hashtag of Better Everyday.  She asked me to make her a sign so I made one similar to the one I made for my friend’s birthday last month.  I cut the pieces of MDF too large so I was able to make a second smaller sign for her as well.

I also ordered some supplies to make a slightly larger ice chest box and record video for it this time.  I am tossing around ideas to make a secret compartment in this one.
