Shop update #373 (1-1-25)

I sanded down my desk organizer box with 80 grit and then 120 grit on the belt sander to get all of the joints flush.  I then hand sanded it with 220 grit paper and also softened all of the edges to make everything smooth.

I ran a couple of tests with the leftover Cherry and Hickory pieces and decided on Mahoney’s Beeswax and Walnut oil finish.

I liberally applied it and then wiped it all off after an hour.  I followed that with a second coat the next day.  I also apparently forgot to take a picture of it when it was all buffed out.  It is sitting on my desk at work so I will post some good pics of it next week.

I mentioned last week that the slats for my WeCreat laser were in bad need of cleaning so I busted them out and gave them a good scouring with “LA’s Finest” cleaner.  They used to sell it at the 99 cent store but I’m not sure where to get it now.

I also made some sample boxes out of cheap Home Depot 1/4″ plywood to test out sizes, shapes an styles.

Last but not least I made some last minute New Year’s Eve trinkets to hand out at our local neighborhood party.
