Shop update #377 (1-29-25)

My son and I spent most of Saturday at the gun range with his Boy Scout Troop working on the rifle merit badge.

Later that night we put some more work in on the cell phone drawer holder project.

I moved the new laser out of the way and we setup the assembly table for production.  I taught my son how to safely use a pneumatic air nailer and showed him how to apply glue and nail together the carcasses that will make the bigger cabinet.  In order to make the project more manageable, I broke it down into 8 drawer boxes that will hold 5 drawers each.  Once those are built, we can glue and nail them together to make 2 sets of 20 drawers.  This isn’t the way that I would build them but this makes it easier for him to understand and to construct.

One of the guys in my car club owns an old Chevy van.  Apparently there is a plastic piece that is used in the slider mechanism for the side door and they are really hard to find now.  He gave me his one spare and I modeled it in the computer.  I pretty much have the whole thing done except for a partial cone shape that needs to be cut out of the bottom.  I 3D printed a quick proof to show him and that we can test fit on the van.
