Shop update #399 (7-2-25) I got a new mini split AC installed!

After 2 years of saving up, I finally got a new mini split AC system installed in the shop.  I had to move a whole bunch of stuff from the left side of the shop and pile it all around the rest to make space for the installer to get everything setup.  It’s a 12,000 BTU system which is pretty much the smallest one that I could get for the size of my shop.  It was 94° on Sunday and it kept the shop at a comfortable 80° with no problem.  I insulated the garage door but the ceiling definitely needs some insulation installed and I’m pretty sure that there is no insulation in the walls either but that is a problem for future Donald to worry about.

I moved my air compressor for the first time in 10 years and could hear quite a bit of water sloshing around so I took it outside and emptied a good half gallon out of it.  It has had a slow leak for a long time now so I took out the quick connect and pressure regulator, cleaned them up, added some teflon tape, and reinstalled them.  Then this happened.

I looked it up and I won this compressor in a raffle in 2002 and this is the first thing that has really broken on it.  It’s a Husky WL660500AJ compressor so I found the replacement part on the Home Depot website but it was going to take 2 weeks to get here.  I did some sleuthing and was able to find a replacement on Amazon and got it on Monday.  It has now been installed for a couple of days and seems to be holding up OK.  For this particular model, you want to make sure that you order one that has the pressure opening on the left.  I put the link to the one I ordered below.  I was able to reuse the stock air gauge.
