Shop update #451 (7-1-26) Tailgate Bench
I had a very busy weekend with multiple Boy Scout activities but I managed to get in the shop and get some good progress made on the Tailgate Bench.
I bought a replacement 2×4 for the back legs and cut it down into 2 equal lengths. I then marked and cut an angle into the top of both of them for the tailgate to attach to.

Once that was done, I got all of the parts and sanded them down with 120 grit sandpaper.

I am shooting a video for this project and in it I show how to spray a stencil onto some 1/2″ plywood and cut out the letters using the jigsaw and a bandsaw.

After showing how to cut them out with those 2 tools, I proceeded to cut 2 layers of MDF for the letters and outline on my laser and then glued them together.

I might throw a slight roundover on the frame part but I’m not sure yet. Assembly and painting should happen this weekend.
