Shop update #455 (7-29-26)
In June of 2024, I built an Apothecary ice chest just to challenge myself and did not record any video of it. I then went out to Walmart and bought a couple of slightly bigger ice chest so that I could make a video on build one. Fast forward 2 years and I am finally making the new one and shooting video.
The cooler has been measured and the box designed on the computer. I then cut all the side pieces out of 1/2″ plywood and glued and brad nailed them together. I measured the opening and cut 2 more pieces of plywood to fit. I glued and nailed the piece into the top,let it dry, and then cut out the lid. This will now allow me to to properly align the bottom piece and glue and nail it in as well.
Once it was firmly glued in place, I then scored the front to make the fake drawers.
I made the box 1/2″ too big on the inside so that I can put some spray foam in to act as glue and to give it a little extra insulation.
The last step for this week was to fill in the nail holes with some wood putty and let it dry overnight.
