Shop update #467 (10-21-26) Tent storage for Boy Scouts
One of the leaders of my son’s Boy Scout Troop asked me to add 2 shelves to the area where they store their tents in the storage bin. The area measure 24″ deep by 48″ wide. Piece of cake.
I cut some scrap 5/8″ OSB down to size and added a 2″ strip along each long end to stiffen it up.

When I went to install it, I discovered that it was 45″ wide, not 48″. I brought it back home and cut them both down to 35″ and now they fit nicely. I cut some scrap 3/4″ plywood into 2″ by 24″ strips and screwed them into the sides of the existing large opening and then screwed the shelves down with 1 screw in each corner.
