Shop update #362 (10-16-24) Making more Coffin Lanterns and fixing my dust collection

Most of Saturday was spent helping out with and then watching my son’s marching band tournament.  This is going to pretty much be every Saturday for the next month and a half.

This is my first time using any kind of dust collection and I noticed that it had not been sucking up as much sawdust lately so I took a look.  The hose that goes from under the saw blade to the side of the cabinet got clogged with pieces of offcuts that dropped into it.  I had to open the side of the cabinet, pull the hose off and remove the pieces.  I was then able to clear out the hose and suck up all the sawdust that fell into the cabinet.  Lesson learned.

I sold a half dozen more Coffin Lanterns during the week and had to build my inventory back up.  I also came up with a new design just for giggles.  Leave a comment if you get the reference.

I also had a chance to give all the sugar skull layers a couple of coats of spray paint.  The white and the yellow still need a couple more coats.

I got the 2×4’s cut down to size for the giant jack o’ lantern and hope to get it finished enough to paint on Sunday.
