Shop update #444 (5-13-26)
Back in August of 2020, it was impossible to find a student desk for sale anywhere in Southern California so I built two of them for my sons to use while attending remote learning for school. Fast forward 5 years and my older son is now attending college and has outgrown his old desk so he bought himself a new standing desk. We carried it downstairs and I had forgotten just how heavy the old desk is.
I took a couple of pictures of it and posted it on my personal Facebook for free.

After 3 1/2 weeks, I didn’t have any takers so it had to go.
I started by removing the top. 14 pocket hole screws may have been a little excessive, but the top never budged an inch.

I then removed the screws from the front brace and beat everything into submissions with a rubber mallet.

I removed the legs with a reciprocating saw.

And then cut the desktop into manageable pieces with a circular saw.

My son had a Jazz tournament all day Saturday and Sunday was Mother’s Day. I’m lucky that I found the time to do even this but it was kinda fun just breaking stuff for 30 minutes.
