Shop update #102 (10-9-19)
For the first time in months, I feel like I was able to get a lot accomplished over the weekend.
I carved out 20 name plaques for the Boy Scout Troop on Wednesday and Friday night.
Thursday Night I went to Knott’s Scary Farm for the 3rd time this year. More info and pictures here
I went to a 17th birthday for one of my friend’s son on Saturday night. He likes skateboarding style clothing so I made him a couple of CNC plaques Saturday morning/afternoon before I made the hour drive out to their house.
He seemed very happy to get them so that was a big relief. You never know if a teenager is going to like your hand made gift or not.
While I was working on the skate projects I brought out the name plaques and gave them a good coat of spray lacquer, let them dry for an hour, and then gave them a coat of gloss black spray paint.
Sunday morning we were at the social hall of the charter organization for my son’s Boy Scout Troop so he could sell tickets for their spaghetti dinner fundraiser.
That afternoon, my son installed the latches, carrying handle, and center cups on the washer toss game that he is making for the spaghetti dinner fundraiser. I also taught him how to spray paint the washers. He chose red and blue. The dinner is in a couple of weeks so he got the project turned in just in time.
Once he was finished, I sanded down the name plaques and gave them a good coat of amber shellac.
I had 2 plaques to donate to the fundraiser but they needed wall hanger clips installed, so I took care of that Sunday night.
Tuesday night I cut out a new plaque idea on the CNC and then glued the cups into the light weight washer toss games.
