Shop update #14 (2-14-18) Tomahawk throwing targets & stands

Last Saturday was spent doing Boy Scout activities and attending family Birthday Parties.  It was a nice relaxing day.

On Sunday I put the wheels on the 2nd Pinewood Derby Track Storage box.  They are now officially finished and should be picked up later today.

My son’s Boy Scout Troop has officially added Tomahawk throwing to the activities that the boys can learn.  They received the Tomahawks late last week and now need something to throw them at.  This weekend.  I stopped by Home Depot and picked up 12 – 2×4’s, a box of 2 1/2″ screws, a bottle of Titebond 3 glue, a couple of 3 1/2″ hinges, a can of red spray paint, some 3/8″ bolts, and some nuts and washers.  I am building 2 end grain targets with stands.  I found some basic plans on the Tomahawk guys website and am basing my design on them.  It’s basically 72 – 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ blocks glued into 12 block strips and then mounted to a 2×4 frame.  I was able to get all the pieces cut by mid afternoon and then 10 of the 12 strips glued together.  I also built the 2 stands minus the blocks that hold the target.  I will get them finished up this week and ready for practice bright and early Saturday morning.  Look for a full write up coming soon!
