Shop update #180 (4-7-21)

My brother’s birthday is coming up so I decided to make him some pushsticks for his new tablesaw.

I had a 3/4″ piece of maple plywood leftover from the plyo-box project so I broke it out and setup it up on my X-Carve CNC machine.
The piece is big enough to make 4 pushsticks but I am only making 2 right now.  I will be making the other 2 at a later date.

Once they were cut out, I rounded the edges over on my router table with a 1/4″ roundover bit.

I gave them a quick sanding with 220 grit sandpaper and then a good coat of tung oil.

A friend of mine has a small metal pirate sign that he wants to attach to some boards that look like they came off of a pirate ship.
I started with a 6 ft cedar fence picket , broke it half, and chunked up the ends.

I took it out side and gave both sides a quick char with a small blow torch.

I lightly sanded it with 120 grit, gave them a coat of dark walnut danish oil, and then attached them together with glue and brad nails.

I let the danish oil dry for 3 days and then gave the whole thing 3 coats of clear gloss latex paint.
