Shop update #219 (1-5-22)

It’s been raining solid the last couple of weeks and I was finally able work on the outdoor griddle station/bar this weekend.

I wasn’t really happy with the color of the stain that I put on the bar top so I sanded it down and distressed it some.

I gave the bottom and sides 3 coats of a water based Spar Urethane and gave the top 5 coats.

In between coats of Spar Urethane I gave the rest of the grilling station a light sanding with my orbital sander using 120 grit sandpaper.

I blew all the sawdust off with a blower and then gave the entire thing a thick coat of the same Spar Urethane.  It shouldn’t be getting wet or sit in direct sunlight so I hope the one coat will give it some decent protection.  The plan is to let it go naturally gray but slow the process.

I still plan on installing some cement board to give a little bit of heat protection between the wood and the griddle.
