Shop update #259 (10-12-22)

My 2 sons and I returned to the church on Saturday morning and finished sanding the entryway doors under the handles and around the corners using 80 grit sandpaper.

Once we got all of the old finish off, we gave it one more sanding with 120 grit paper and masked off the windows.

The next step was to give it a good coat of Kona Gel Stain to even everything out.

We let that dry overnight and returned at 11:30 am on Sunday to give it the first coat of Total Boat LUST marine varnish.  This is my first time using it and it was a little thicker than I had expected.

We will return in a couple of weeks, give it a good sanding and then apply another coat.  The goal is to have a total of at least 4 coats.
