Shop update #266 (11-30-22)

My sons’ Boy Scout Troop are meeting in person back at their Scout House and needed 26 new name plates to hang up on the wall underneath the different ranks.  I picked up some 1/4″ thick 1 1/2″ wide oak strips from Lowes and cut them down to 9″ lengths.  I then used my laser to engrave the boys names and then setup a jig on the drill press to make holes 1″ in from each side top and bottom.  I also gave them all 2 coats of satin polyurethane.  I think that I may use amber shellac next time.

I ordered some slate coaster from amazon and gave them a single coat of the same satin polyurethane and then engraved them with my laser.  I put them up for sale on Facebook and have already sold a couple of sets.

I also engrave a few cutting boards and put them up for sale a swell but none have sold yet.

I made a stencil just to see how well it would work.

Last but not least, I made some Christmas Lanterns to give out as gifts.
