Shop update #39 (7-25-18)
Friday evening we went to the local park for the latest installment of our communities’ Concert in the Park series. It was a Foo Fighter cover band and they weren’t too bad. My wife and I had some Philly Cheese Steak fries and hung out with friends. I brought the washer toss game and there were also some cornhole and giant jenga games there that we all played.
Around 1:00 am that night I started throwing up every hour and a half until 9:00 am. I pretty much didn’t get back out of bed until Sunday.
I had already carved out the name plaques for my son’s Boy Scout troop the weekend before so I gave them a coat of spray polyurethane before lunch and let them dry for an hour.
Once the poly was dry I gave them a coat of gloss black spray paint and let that dry for about 3 hours in the 100+ degree direct sunlight.
Once the black paint was dry I sanded everything down with 120 grit sandpaper.
I then gave all sides 2 coats of satin spray polyurethane. One of the scout laws is that a scout is thrifty so we reuse old name plates of boys that have dropped out of the troop (2nd picture).
I feel much better now, but between throwing up all night and not eating much on Saturday I lost a total of 6 lbs and my ribs were sore for 2 or 3 days.
