Shop update #59 (12-12-18)

I was able to get the frame finished up and the TV Lift installed into it on Saturday.  I also installed cross braces and mounted the controller box to them.  I ran a few tests and it moves up and down quite smoothly.  This coming weekend I plan to cut all the 1/4″ plywood to size and attach it to the case.  Once that is done I will be able to mount the TV and install the video game system.

While working on the TV Lift I also gave the C10 project a couple more coats of poly with a light sanding between each coat.

On Sunday we finally got the Christmas lights put up on the outside of the house in the morning and then went to John’s Incredible Pizza for a small birthday party for my younger son.

Later that night I tried out a White Elephant gift idea that I came up with.  The first one was made of plywood and ended up with a wicked void in it and had to be scrapped.  I made another one out of solid pine and it turned out much better.

On Monday night I painted in the words and the elephant outline with a brush and some acrylic paint.

I let that dry overnight and then on Tuesday night sanded the top with 120 grit sandpaper in my orbital sander.

Once I cleaned all the sawdust off I gave it a solid coat of white acrylic paint with some silver highlights.  I will give it a couple of coats of spray on poly tomorrow when I get home for work and it should be ready for the gift exchange on Friday.  Hopefully none of the party guests read this website before then…
