Shop update #78 (4-24-19)
On Wednesday night I got 2 more coats of spray laquer on the Adventure pins plaques for a total of 3 coats on the front and 2 coats on the back. I let the finish cure and sanded and waxed them on Friday night and had them ready for pickup on Saturday.
Thursday night This Old House posted a picture of Jimmy Diresta’s metal & wood Adirondack chair with dimensions on Twitter. It was a slow morning at work on Friday so I modeled it in Sketchup and replied to the tweet. It was received very well.

I was short 5 giant Jenga pieces to make 3 complete sets so Saturday morning my older son and I stopped by Home Depot and picked up 1 – 8ft 2×3 and 8 – 8ft 2×4’s. The 2×4’s were for a project that I was going to build on Sunday until my wife reminded me that it was Easter.
Once we got back from the store, I cut the 2×3 down into 11 usable giant jenga blocks. Once they were cut I put a slight chamfer on the ends using my router table and my son sanded them all with 120 grit sandpaper. Did I mention that we made 3 sets? Each set has 54 blocks in it.
I got the chamfering done and took 3 good looking blocks to the CNC machine and cut my logo into them. Each set will get one of them.
After that I broke out my last big scrap piece of 1/2″ plywood and cut it down into enough pieces to make 3 cases/stands for the giant jenga games.
Sunday morning we met a group of friends at a local park and we had out own private Easter Egg hunt. We all chipped in goody filled plastic eggs. We had about 30 kids there and over 800 eggs. The kids had a blast and I got to talk to one of the other dads and find out that he is currently making an electric guitar.
We made Ham in the oven and pork ribs in the InstantPot for Easter dinner and it was yummy.
We took advantage of the giant jenga game while everything was cooking. It was a good day.
