Shop update #294 (6-21-23)

Saturday was all about family time. We hung out during the morning, went and watched The Flash movie in the afternoon, came home, did some chores, and made dinner.
Sunday was Father’s Day and my only request was to have the whole day for shop time.
Do you remember the Wishing Well Planter box that I started in August? I finally finished it! With filming, it pretty much took all afternoon, but I am quite pleased with it.

I started by taking out all of the pieces and making sure everything was still in good shape.

I traced the bottom ring on some old 3/4″ plywood and cut it down to size with a circular saw.  This will go in the bottom of the well to hold rocks to help weigh it down and make it harder to steal.

Next, I positioned and installed the uprights for the roof.

After that, I attached all of the side planking.

I then assembled the cross braces for the roof.

The last step was to install the planks along the top of the well and then attach the roof.

My younger son and I cleaned up our front plant area and set down some pavers.

We then placed the well on top of the pavers and temporarily adjusted it with some extra rocks.  I need to come back and level the pavers out better.

We also installed some dollar store lights into the roof to give it some extra light at night.  I like the effect that it gives the well, but they look really ugly sitting on top.  I’m not sure if I’m going to keep them or not.
