Shop update #32 (6-6-18)
On Wednesday a bunch of volunteers met at one of the Cub Scout leader’s house and we put a couple of coats of stain on the Even More Giant Cub Scout Bridge. We had a good turnout so we got it done pretty quickly. Some of the CNC’ed treads got sanded a little too aggressively so I took them home to fix up. While moving the large pieces into the garage I managed to strain my back. On a side note, I picked the deck stain color. It’s called Wood Bridge.
Late Thursday night I spent a couple of hours cleaning up the Scout Law treads and hand painting them with spray paint in a bowl. It turns out that spray paint in a bowl has just as many fumes as when you spray it on a project so I had to open the garage door a couple of feet, the side door, and set up a fan to blow the air through.
On Friday night I brought the treads back to the leader’s house and we mounted them back in place.
Early Saturday morning we assembled the Even More Giant Cub Scout Bridge at a local park and had our official bridging ceremony. It was a big hit and everybody loved it. I was very proud to have been able to help with it.
My back was still sore Sunday so we mainly hung around the house and got caught up on chores. I was able to get some computer time in and draw up some plans for this weekends project. It will be the first video that I have recorded in over a month.
I have had a lot of requests lately so Monday night after work I was able to get some plans drawn up for the butterfly enclosure. You can find them here.
