Shop update #85 (6-12-19)

I had Thursday off of work so I had some time to work on a CNC art project that I have had in the back of my mind for a while now.

I have a couple of 24″ square pieces 1/4″ particle board that have been sitting around for a while so I took one out and spray painted one face black.  It really soaked up the paint and I ended up using almost an entire can of cheaper paint that I’ve been meaning to try out.

I set it up in my X-Carve CNC machine and started the carve.  It ended up running for about an hour and fifteen minutes.

While it was running I took the unfinished parts of the 2×4 Adirondack chair and gave them a good coat of red paint.

Once everything was painted, I checked on the CNC machine and it was almost finished.  Once it was done, I vacuumed off all the sawdust and was very happy with the results.  I’m going to do some detail painting, seal the whole thing, and hopefully frame it as well.

Do you remember the Cub Scout Bridge that I helped make last year?  Saturday was our annual Bridging Ceremony, so we got the bridge all set up at a local park for the scouts to use.  Over 100 Cub Scouts got to cross over the bridge that day.

That afternoon I assembled the finished parts for the 2×4 Adirondack chair and all was right with the world.

Sunday was the Graduation party for my nephew and I got to see the cupcake stands that I made last month put to use.

The rest of the weekend was spent editing the 2×4 Adirondack chair video and I released it late Monday night.
